Decision Making Services
1. Decision Facilitation
We offer a facilitation service whereby we sit in on your decision
team's deliberations and help provide a structure and framework
within which the conversation can move forward productively. Using
our "IDEAS" decision methodology, we would
typically follow the process outlined below:
A. We will familiarise ourselves with the fundamental issues beforehand.
B. Our consultants will participate in the meeting of the panel, board or committee and will help to identify and crystalise the key issues and maintain focus on them.
C. Where required we will help to guide the discussion, and assist in eliciting key information
relating to values, preferences, options, objectives and criteria.
D. We will draw up a schema of the decision, incorporating all
of the issues and aspects that have influence and impact on the judgment to be made. This will assist in determining the sensitivity of the decision outcome with respect to these issues. This will in turn guide the degree of further research and consultation necessary to inform the decision
E. Before a decision is reached we will organize the salient information and present this to the group for final consideration.
F. We will document the proceedings, identify the conclusion, and outline the approach taken in reaching it, thereby ensuring its transparency and ability to sustain regulatory or supervisory scrutiny.
G. If required we will log the decision and all of its details in a specially designed database (see point 3 below). This will provide for future reference, creating an ongoing decision management system that will inform corporate memory and experience. 2. Decision Consultation
We can act as advisers in helping your organisation design and implement
a decision-making methodology and infrastructure. This can include
documentation, meeting formats, player identification and tools.
Our consultants can assist with the production of documentation
materials, pro-formas and other tangibles required to orchestrate
a sound and consistent process for effective decision-making.
We can help you set up a decision office, comprising senior and
service staff required to support the effective decision-making
processes your organisation must have in order to thrive and survive.
We can design and construct decision-making templates and tools
in programs such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access and Microsoft
Word to support your decision-making process.
3. Decision-Making Database Design
and Development
Part of your knowledge management infrastructure should be a database
which captures all of the relevant aspects of each management decision
made.
The structure of the database will be customised to fit your precise
requirements. However, common features will be record keeping for
aspects such as issues, criteria, options, personnel, outcomes, and costs.
This will provide a running history of decision-making and will
provide the ideal facility from which staff can learn from experience
and benefit from past successes and failures.
The database applications are easy to use, and can act as a ready
made accessible repository of corporate data.
4. Decision-Making Documentation
We can assist with preparing a report on the decisions you have reached. These documents then remain
property of your organisation and contain the processes and rationale
for the decision at hand. This practice is relates to quality control and continual improvement
in relation to management and decision-making and should be part
of the organisations overall policy and procedures.
It also ensures that decisions and the processes used to reach them can be justified and defended in the face of challenges on grounds of due process or integrity.
5. Decision Making Training
We can help your staff to become expert decision makers by
providing them with the tools and techniques they require. A one-day
training course, conducted at your venue or ours, would be sufficient
to provide them with the skills they need in order to approach even
complex decisions with confidence.
Participants will work on decision arising from their workplace. Over the years we have found this to provide an effective educational experience. It ensures that the learning occurs in a relevant and meaningful context and that participants remain motivated. It also removes any possibility of their having difficulty linking what they have learned in the classroom with what is needed at the workplace. With Numerix training, the classroom IS the workplace.
Customised courses can be arranged to suit your organisations
needs. Call today to discuss for a no
obligation discussion on what Numerix can do for your business. (Course description)
